When you are from the U.S. and love soccer, you realize we will never win. Our "best" players are kinda jokes, and you basically just pick a foreign team to root for. Mine is England, so I liked seeing them do well. Hopefully they can't beat the fucking Italians.(no offense if your from Italy, but the Italian soccer team is a bunch of foul faking pussies that should have lost to Australia had they not cheated their way to the finals.) Terry is also the best defender and one of the best players in the world right now as well. |

When you are latino, you always cheer for your team, even though you know it sucks. Peru FTW (some times I will cheer for Germany though) |

Good to have passion, but passion leads to the darkside. or something like that. |

bah, we are so self involved in the spectacle of the game we don't put players who can actually produce out there. I'm not sure why in the fuck we continue to put adu out there. He is great, but he is not "national team ready" |

Demarcus Beasley is good. And Italy shouldn't have qualified for Euro 2008 either, Scotland almost put them out(2-1 to Italy |

I saw Demarcus play in a game not far from my house a few years ago. His thighs are MASSIVE. Like seriously. SCARY! He dominated the pitch. It was very impressive to watch him. |

Wikipedia wrote: Chav (pronounced /ʧæv/) also Charv/Charver (pronounced /ʧɑːv/) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a stereotype fixated on low quality or counterfeit goods. It commonly refers to those belonging to a youth sub-culture, often stereotypically associated with a low socio-economic class, a striking dress sense and criminal activity.
The term appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005.[1][2] There are regional variations; in the North East of England the variant charv / charva is most commonly used (particularly in Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland areas, where the term originated.) and has been used since the early 1990s, while in the South East of England and South West of England chav is the usual form. The term differs depending on area and dialect; in Scotland, they are known as "neds" and in Northern Ireland as "Spides" or "Smicks". Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism.[3] The term has also been associated with juvenile delinquency, the "ASBO Generation", "Hoodie culture", and "Yob culture". so... I'm not sure how that relates to soccer. |

nevermind...later in that same article: wikipedia wrote: Bluewater Shopping Centre banned hooded tops from anywhere in their complex.[25] Pubs in Leicester announced that they would ban young people wearing certain fashion brands, including Burberry, due to a link between some of these brands and football hooliganism.[26]
So what I'm gathering is that Chav's tend to be a bunch of rowdies. Mix that with a football match, and you have a stereotype. Take that stereotype and spread that across the lot of soccer fans, and don't turn back? Hardly seems fair. |
