An Apology

I would like to make a public apology for any offense that I might have caused through releasing this game, and to Muslims in particular. My intentions when releasing this project were to mock the foreign policy of the United States and the commonly held belief in the United States that Muslims are a hostile people to be held with suspicion. I would like to make it clear that I have never shared such a belief and my intention was to mock those who actually do believe these things.

It quickly became obvious to me that releasing this game did not achieve its intended effect and instead only caused hurt to hospitable, innocent people. I believe removing this game and website will do much more to attain my desired effect than leaving it on the internet, so I am doing just that.

I would like to ask for the forgiveness of Muslims around the world and to make it clear that I did not release this game with ill intent. So without further ado, I would like to say that I am truly apologetic for what I have done and will take full responsibility for all offense that has been caused. I can only hope that any further misgivings can be laid to rest.

lol I think it is funny that someone attempted to do that. I try not to let stuff like that bother me tbh but most of the time.. well ... it does. Anyway thought it would be interesting to hear comments about this, I for one would like to keep my thoughts to myself since it is beyond offensive in my opinion. I wanna kick this Sigvatr guy between his god damn legs HARD! I hate racists and don't tolerate racism at all. (I may overreact sometimes in the pub and I'm sorry about that ) But the "Muslim Massacre"-site is down and prolly the game too. (Hopefully) And Sword I'm 90% sure that it's ok that you post this.

You guys are leaving me speechless here... I'm not talking about censoring the internet or freedom of speech. If the game was called "Americans Massacre" where you play Bin Laden and your mission is to drop the twin towers, then tell me how you'de feel. Would you just say "who cares that's his opinion, oh well it doesnt bother me!". I find that really hard to believe. You guys got me wrong I'm not against having some arab icons used in games such as in cz 2 out of the 5 terrorists are arabs, but to make a game against a complete race or in that case religion just seems to be rediculous, its a bad practice of freedom of speech if you ask me. Maybe I'm making a big deal out of this? I dont know I certainly am bias in that specific case. I know the internet is free bla bla bla... and freedom of speech is all good for me but doesnt anyone think it was crossing a line here? freedom of speech doesnt mean I can call all germans nazi's or all muslims terrorists. Anyway its your opinions, I respect it and I'm not trying to force anyone to feel the same way I do.

It's not that it doesn't bpther me, it's just that that's how the person is. There are racist mofos out there, and shit its their opinion. If im going to be bother everytime so racist prick comes along, then im sure to be piss off all the time. The guy who created the game also apologized. Yeah, I would ever play it, but is his right to put it out there, but he still is a idiot for making it (even if it is satire as he claims). Internet was made to be open for anything, once you censor one thing, you open the door for everything.

he doesnt have the right to put it on the internet. chances are he hosted it on a server that belongs in another country that has vary few restrictions on what they are hosting. Exercising freedom of speech always takes place within a context of competing values. The guy is a dick, people called him out on it, now hes apologizing thats all.

yea makeshift, thats why ThePirateBay is "legal" because they have their servers in another country and they have a master backup, so every time the US goes and fucks stuff up, they just get more servers up and load the backups. <3 ThePirateBay

No. Pirate Bay is a very good read. The reason they are "legal" is because in Sweden where they are based it is legal to provide a service locating items through the internet. Since they do not house and of the actual movies on thier servers they are 100% within the law of their country to do what it is that they do. You should read the complaints/legal threats they receive. They post them. http://thepiratebay.org/legal It is quite funny.
