ive been downloading a shitload of music that last few days off a site that is like a forum/torrent site. my friend kinda scared me by saying you would probably win the case if u got caught, but like what are the chances i would get caught? he also mentioned its even higher if i seed the torrent, is this true too? i know i sound like a pussy, but sum kid in my neighborhood got caught and had to pay a SHITLOAD of fines, while another one of my friends probably has 200g of illegal music/movies. |

depends what site you rip them off of. pirate's bay(or whatever) gets away with it because they are based in sweden and don't have to deal with the same regulations the U.S. imposes. check out their section on the website where they post people trying to take them to court and shit, it's hilarious. Chances of getting caught? I don't know the numbers but it does happen, frequently, so you should prob support music and buy it. |

Last time I checked 0 people have been caught for downloading music off torrents, everyone that got caught used limewire and P2P networks. |

isnt bit torrent p2p? You have a higher rate of getting caught if you have cox as your internet provider. I wouldn't use torrents much or seed the torrents. I download my stuff from warez and rapidshare. I have around 5000 songs and I have downloaded about 50-60 movies. Also keeping files on an external drive doesn't make any difference. If your caught, it would be confiscated as evidence (if you destroy it, it would be destroying evidence which gives you more time). Either way, If you get caught you'll probably get an email or letter, when you do, i suggest getting a lawyer ASAP. |

i use demonoid and this thing called transmission, heres sum screen shots on how it works, i duno if they help but, thats the process.    in the third image it shows everything that im dling and ul, i stop ul everything cause i heard i can get in trouble but does this look even remotley safe?

Your best bet is just not downloading illegally if your scared. Yes, you can be caught by using torrents. It does use a P2P network. That, plus my friend was caught downloading an album off it. Said he got a vicious lawyer though, and won the case. Just my two $0.02 |

Chances are low, unless you get ratted out. Unless you aren't stupid and go around telling everyone you download music, you should be fine. |

cuase limewire takes too long, and i cant trust it against viruses as much, with demonoid it has a comments section and one with trojans are deleted etc, u also can dl full albums/discographies off of demonoid |
