So yeah, today is my 18th birthday and I received an acoustic guitar. I want to learn how to play but I'm not sure of which song I want to learn first (well, after I learn the chords and such) - anyone have any suggestions? |

Lemme start this out by saying Happy Birthday! Your legal in most states now.. so watch out ladies (fellaz?) lol jk imho.. you cant learn a song someone tells you that your going to learn to play.. its gotta be something that you want to play, and when your finnished your satisfied. First song I learned on the accoustic was this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7ZPMScX9-k With out all the fancy stuff, its an overall easy song. Also, you cant EVER go wrong with SRV. |

There's no way he will do SRV with just starting! Top three easy acoustic songs I would recommend: 1. Hotel California - The Eagles 2. Knockin' on Heavens Door - Guns and Roses 3. Let it Be - The Beatles |

I listen to hard rock and metal - there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to play any of that currently, that's why I asked for suggestions for easy songs XD. I don't mind starting out with something I wouldn't normally listen to. @Everyone else: Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look after I finish the buttloads of homework I have to do. |

Also I recommend getting a chord book, and start making your own music. You can take one chord and make a whole song from it. |

^^ Dude he just started to play and he's got an acoustic. How in the hell is he gonna play Master of Puppets? I would suggest starting off with Knockin' On Heavens Door by GNR. The only chords you need to know are a G (actually a G5 but normal G is fine), D, C, and Am (A minor). These are all easy chords and put together they make music. |

Mav did you even listen to the song?!?!?!?!?!?!? quite possibly the easiest blues riff evar... requires 2 fingers to play most of the song, there are about 2-3 chords that use 3-4 fingers but they are basic chords. |

Well I mean he shouldn't have trouble doing the main bluesy riff. The only problem he could have is just like following the rhythm. I doubt he'll be able to play the beginning with the hammer on's and pull off's. Pretty good sound though. I remember watching SRV videos so many years ago. |
