So I've been a smoker for about a year and frankly I'm worried about my health. I can't run a quarter mile at this point because I'll be weezing and a have a smokers cough, but it is still mild.
I decided to buy an Electric Cigarette last night from http://www.liberty-flights.com and when it comes I'll be the first to post a review on how I think they are.
I did a bit of research last night and found an actual statistic that one puff of a cigarette is as harmful has 1,400 puffs of an Ecig. For now there are only two carcinogens present in Ecigs (nicotine and one more that I can't remember), buy there are companies that sell it with only nicotine and have managed to remove that carcinogen. Also, you can choose how strong the nicotine level is in the smoke. I got medium which means its 18mg of nicotine and there is 24, 12, 18, and 0 (for people who want to quit). I'm hoping that this ends up doing a lot of well to my lungs and overall health but I can still maintain that level of relaxation I get from a cigarette's nicotine.
P.S. I ordered three flavors Menthol, Watermelon, and Tobacco.

What is your guys' opinion on Electronic Cigarettes?

I think you should try to quit or at least smoke less per day. I'm not a fan of smoking. I've seen an E-Cigarette and I held it once and it stinks in a weird way.

So yeah, I agree with Reaper that you should save your money instead of smoking :/

Grow a pair and quit.

Seriously.

Cold turkey is the best way. Talk the event up. Let everyone know that want's you to quit smoking, that you're planning on quitting. That way when you do quit, people will be cheering/jeering depending on how well it's going. THEN, take the 5+dollars a day you were spending and save it. Notice the money building up, this will be a good incentive to stay off smokes.

12+ year smoker saying this. Once you've decided this is what you want to do, don't allow yourself to back out. Also, don't reward yourself with a cig for any reason. One cigarette and I'm immediately a 1.5pack a day smoker again. :/

...oh, and the urge to smoke never goes away. They become smelly, and unattractive to be around, but even now, there's days where I "REALLY NEED A CIG". ...though i really don't. It's just a chemical addiction, not a necessary wantingness for them. Just stay strong, and don't let them take you over again.

I'd also recommend your cig money going towards something positive that you can reward yourself with thats not a cig. Human minds respond very well to rewards, so even if you are still physically addicted you can end your psychological addiction sooner.

A coworker tried them for about a week, then I never saw him using it again... But just like everyone else said, just quit smoking all together....

Just save your money if you are going to stop/quit in the long run.

I smoked for a long time, few years. But I just went cold turkey, after like 3-4 days of "OMG I WANNA SMOKE", I was just like "eh, ill pass". I just couldn't afford it anymore and I started working out again and running so I couldn't smoke because I wouldnt be able to run. =p. Just gotta prioritize.

I drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney. I'm able to run 4 miles with no problems and no coughing.

Offtopic: It's your body, you know the risks (although I'm in agreement with just about everyone). The only thing I "force" is women to stop smoking when pregnant.

Well, I have no desire to quit until I'm out of college mainly for just the relaxation I get out of it, and to be honest I like it. But there is the healthier alternative which also provides nicotine which is Electronic cigarettes. Yes, I may be addicted, but I'm not doing near as much harm to myself and still getting the feeling out of it. My electronic cigarette will be here in the next few days and I'll tell you guys how I feel about it. I hope that its really good and I will be addicted to a much healthier alternative than regular cigarettes. Seriously though, its not something I'm going to quit for awhile, but if Ecigs can do the same for me minus 3,999 of the 4,000 known carcinogens, I am all for it.

Its kind of like smoking a vaporizer instead of a joint health wise.

So I got my Ecig today and I can tell you guys already it's really nice. The amount of smoke you get is more than a cig and denser making it especially fun for me to do smoke tricks. Also I didn't think it was real, but it has 0 smell but a shitload of taste. I don't know how thats possible, but my watermelon flavor makes it feel like I'm smoking a fruity ass hookah and I really really really enjoy it. I've been smoking in my room all day today doing smoking tricks and not worrying a minute about being caught which makes it a GIANT positive. Next, is that one cigarette will last a whole day and when I get to my house I just take the battery and charge it on my computer and refill the cartridge with flavoring and thats pretty much all the work necessary. Money wise it has cost me 35$ and will last about 2 whole months compared to about 90$ a month for regular cigs. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to not kill their lungs while still enjoying the relaxing effect of nicotine.

Now the only negative is my lack of research. I didn't know about the difference between PG and VG. Basically PG is the base for the PG version and I forgot what PG standed for, but overall its like breathing in a fog machine and you have a terrible aftertaste. But, I tried my friends VG a little and its actually way better and adds a sweet taste rather than a fog machine taste and gives WAY more vapor. Thats about it I hope someone here find it useful!
