After all the faithful years it's served, it's dying down. The balls sensor is scratched, the holding things are getting dirty and hold the ball stiff sometimes constantly, the back padding to provide friction for the mouse to be a complete stand_still - and honestly, I just don't like it anymore.

I'm ditching my old, leet, Trackball for a real mouse. It'll take me a long, LONG time to get used too, but I feel it'll step up my game after the few weeks of dying and playing terribly :) .

So, this is where I need you guys, mostly the people who own/tried high gaming mouses. At the moment I'm looking between both Logitech's G5 and Razer's Copperhead - which are probably one of the best that I've herd about right now (those they're are already successors to them, which I'll talk about later).

Anyways, what I'm really wondering is what types of mouses you have, how you like them - and what you can tell me how DPI, and the levels of them affects your gaming. Remember, I've been a totally different type of mouse for basically my whole life - treat me easy :)

P.S. I am using a Microsoft Optical Mouse Model 1008 (it sucks) for practice. I am also not interested in the Logitech G9 (even though it has like a ~3000 DPI), the way it's built is crap.

Thanks for your time

Wow, waste money on mouse, aren't you made of money. Get a normal mouse, real gamers don't need lousy high tech mouses.

They do. I'd say go with the copper head... though, both the g5 and the copper head are equal, pretty much. It depends on how big of a mouse you want. I'll probably get the copper head for my new computer.

Currently using a Microsoft optical. Startin' to die on me.. Had it for over a year now.. Very good mouse. Way better than a ball-mouse.

But, yeah.. Both of those are amazing. I mgiht wait and go for the Lachesis (sp?).. It has a 4000dpi engine, built in memory to store settings on the fly..;x But the $80 price tag is a bit steep..

if you have the option, get the copperhead, but honestly, I've tried 3 expensive mouses and tried them out, everytime i've returned them and used the one I got stock with my pc in like 2004. If you're starting fresh, get a good one. Copperhead is CPL used.

Copperhead already does have on-board memory. And according to a lot of reviews I've read, 2000DPI is probably the maximum setting you'll ever use (lower if you use anything less thatn 1280x1024).

I really have no idea how you would play with a trackball.

It uses the prescion (spelling) of your fingers, rather than your hand. Which is why it's hard for me to grip a regular mouse - because I'm so used of only my fingers touching the mouse.

Im currently using a razer diamond back, its pretty good, but for a person like me who sweats alot ( maybe the heat from the lights) i would prefer the G5.
