I love VALVe for the games they make, however I despise them for the way they run them. If you have noticed, your now seeing ads in Cz. At first it was just the nVIDIA advertisement in the 'Content Hosted By' bar, which didn't bother me (I was hoping they allowed the feature that let server administrators put whatever banner that they wanted there like old times - this is not the case being). Then earlier on, out of no where the was a HUGE advertisement on top of my Multiplayer Score Board. This REALLY ticked me off, and I found this Annoucment on CS-Nations News Articles: Quote: "That's right, there is a new update for Counter-Strike and Condition Zero. Can you believe it? Can you?! You're going to absolutely love the last bulleted point in the list of changes here (Assuming you are one of those who never, ever read the headlines).
* Fixed add current server button layout in the serverbrowser * Don't allow the '&' character in usernames * Prevented empty chat spam * Fix for upscaling decals in software renderer * Duplicated the in-game advertisements from Counter-Strike in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Ads are now in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. How many of you are betting men (or women) out there? If you are, place your bets now on how long until we see advertisements hit Counter-Strike: Source. I might have to shoot someone a question filled email about this." I haven't seen, hopefully neither have any of you, but I'm willing to bet more sooner than later that dust2_cz, cbble_cz, etc. are going to also be implemented with ADs just like in 1.6 I'm ticked ![]() |

Save copys of your default maps in a seperate folder so that the update doesnt get rid of them, and then we can have the server host the untouched maps. |

Rest of the story Planet Half-Life wrote: nVidia & Valve Team Up
According to the most recent Steam Survey, a large majority of Steam users are using nVidia video cards and other hardware. In an effort to further strengthen the ties between the software and hardware Giants, Valve and nVidia have partnered up to collaborate on development (making Source games more tailored to nVidia hardware) and promotional events as well. Starting immediately, nVidia users can receive a copy of Portal: First Slice, an extended demo of the hit title Portal. To do so, simply direct your browser right here and begin the hardware scan that will detect your nVidia hardware. "More Steam gamers, including myself, play on NVIDIA hardware than any other GPU," said Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing at Valve. "That's a testament to the company's long history of innovation and quality. By working together with NVIDIA to expand our development, distribution, and marketing efforts, we're increasing our ability to serve the millions of NVIDIA customers logging onto Steam and help us prepare for our next generation of content." "Valve's endorsement of our technology and tools is yet another example of how the world's leading gaming companies are working with NVIDIA," said Roy Taylor, vice president of content relations at NVIDIA. "Portal is the hottest new, award-winning title from Valve, and we're delighted that Valve will offer First Slice exclusively to GeForce customers." Throughout the year, you can expect to see more Valve and nVidia events and promotions as the two companies solidify their newfound friendship. And if you've yet to get your hands on Portal, then head over to www.steamgames.com/nvidia1 and take the hardware test! Edit: This offer also includes a free download of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, and yes, even Peggle Extreme. |
