I know tyler or Wonderguy might of all ready told you this but ill make a post anyway So we took a 22 hour bus ride to new orlends. It was long and everyone was so excited to get there. We took a cuple stops along the way but somehow we got there early. Our bus divers were like diving 100mph lol crazy. So we got at new orlends we practiced our marching then after that it was the last time we got to do it before we got in front of the juges so it was excited and intence. Before we competed we toured new orlends and eat and experrianced there calture. The different food and the whole new style We went to the feild we were gona compete at we warmed up and did it in front of the juges. After we got done we watched all others We thought we did pretty good for our style but they dont like our style witch is High ten Exsample:http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZFSNFanH8kQ (just because i am from wisconsin) Most of the north bands are high ten. And DCI Exsample:http://youtube.com/watch?v=_VLVIKxKM2A (Please notice that this band is really hard to get into one of the best bands in the nation) We are marching at a high school level but you get the different styles. We got an EXCELLENT ratting from the juges wich is amazing because they didnt like our styles I think it goes like excellent then superior so we didnt get to bad We got and 80 out of 100 think it was or somthing close to that. We got 2nd in out double a class (Double is like how big the band is) Tripple A is bigger and there were 3 of those Mississippi won the champianship title It was a lot of fun having the experiance to play in the super doom It was Like "Wow" but we still have our chins up and hopefully our next compition is in the north. Funny thing is This is hillarious Ohio was at home when they were at loisianan lol WTF Ride home we were all releafed that it was over and couldnt wait to get home. anouther 22hours Bus driver made it like 20 hours lol |

yea, so... i understand where you have trouble competing w/ Mississippi "style" here is an example of how we own everyone. "the sonic boom of the south" http://youtube.com/watch?v=-3baQGb2zIY another example... http://youtube.com/watch?v=cZZ9bk2ZGRg&feature=related pure class. and what do we have here? try outs for something this good? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F0LWpiK ... re=related yea. welcome to MS. you cant touch this, our "style" is not copyable. |

TYPICALLY there is a difference between the styles in the North and the South. Here in the North, we have a more swashy, loud and entertaining style. We, dance around, do da cha cha, and the alligator and stuff. A lot like MS or WU. We also favor a high mark-time, Big Ten style. (marching in place.) In the south, you usually see, slower, calmer music, with more complicated marching manuvers. I call that boring, no offence. They also do the tushy wiggle when they mark-time. |

...What you guys call "Style" is actually caleld "Core".. There's Core, and Military. I know this because I was in one of the few 5A highschool Military marching bands. We went to the Rose Parade last year, and have officialy been invited to come back whenever we want. Congress asked us to come and play for them aswell, we declined.. We have been jipped out of MANY competitions due to the others being Core. Example of us: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ozP8plnGBpw Yeah, one of the last times I EVER marched.. Rose Parade Bandfest: http://youtube.com/watch?v=5AE1yU8F_5k&feature=related Not one of our best performances, but we were nervous.. Rose Parade: http://youtube.com/watch?v=RdPFD5ssvTY Best 5 miles of my life.. lol. We trained for a month and half for that, not a single person dropped out till the end. A few people threw up during it.. But pushed on. Dehydration was a major issue. but, yeah. You guys do Core, we do Military. We're one of a few hundred in the nation I think. |

But seriously its kind of scary No offence to you southern people. and the booty wiggle isnt that impressing its doesnt look all like amazing at times it looks like your just standing there doing nothing. Now to the possitive stuff You guys have great sticking and a "Classic movment and creative drills" Most what i can tell you have great drumming skills and people down there Hey you have to understand where i am comeing from here I'm from the north our sytle is High ten. If DCI is done well its very impressive. Thanks you for listening |

honestly foamy, i have no idea about anything in band. i was a jock not a band guy. plus we had gifted classes during band because i wanted to learn the drums, but i couldn't get out of my gifted classes during the first few years of band. JSU's Sonic Boom of the South puts the state of MS on the map even though its an embarrassment to everyone but the west side of Jackson. |
