If you can play source, you can play L4D (abit dropping the settings). The source engine is very old (close to 6 years since CS:S came out), but heavily modular... meaning they kept adding shit to it... but you can turn off the new stuff.

Turn on console: Options menu (go to "Keyboard/Mouse", then Enable the "Allow Developer Console" option) and then displayed by pressing the tilde (~) key in game.

type in: cl_showfps 1

Play the game, what is your average fps, gust a general range is fine, and post it on here.

If it is lower than 35, then its too low.

Go to options, then click video, "turn film grain amount", all the way down, then click advanced settings.
Set "anti-aliasing" to none
"Filtering" to bilinear
"wait for vertical sync" to enabled (double-buffer
"multicore rendering" to enabled if you have a dual core or quad processor.

The rest of them, you can leave on whatever they are on, and then play the game.

Check your fps again while playing, if its 40+ most of the time, you can go back to the settings and set all the quality ones you skipped to high or very high.

If your fps is still too low, go to your options, video, and resolution, set it to the number up once (the numbers will be smaller). Press done and play again, you can try dropping the resolution again (if you are not already on the lowest numbers).

Best weapon in L4D 2? machete and the burst fire rifle (like clarion, but now weak).
Worst weapon in L4D 2? Still the pump shotgun, IMO, I'm more of a headshot guy, then if I can get a auto shotgun I just run and gun.
Best Map? The Demo only has 1 campaign, 2 maps and they were about equal.
Also, it's possible to play Versus on the demo or no? And if we can, are we able to play the new zombies? Nope

Just an update on your post Cole.

The L4D2 Demo public release date has been delayed. At the moment from what I have heard, it won't be released until tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11PM GMT, thats 4am PST on Thursday.

If I hear anything else, i'll reply back.



Update #1 - Saw on Steam Forums that its released tomo, at 7AM GMT.

Ganera. You can play L4D with Ganera for online so L4D 2 should also work with Ganera.

yea.. i use downloads of games like that mainly for demos or old games like the matrix and medal of honor and all.. i don't really like all the new games they come up with >.>

I suggest getting only l4d2. I have both and now that I reformatted I didn't even bother installing the original on my computer because l4d2 is just that much better.

Lol.. For the past few days, I've recognised the voice of Nick, but didnt know who it was..

Then, I realised who voiced him, it was Hugh Dillon. Some may know him from the TV show FlashPoint as "Ed Lane" I think ACE might know who im on about.

I was thinking there was a combo pack for 1 and 2. If you can get it for cheap, Id say get both, L4D 1 is still a great game, and the mods for it are awesome.

If I could get more people to play it (and play in the splak servers), then I would play it more, but I quit playing it because everyone moved on.

i have to stop playing until this december (the end of teh semester... cause of low grade, i pm'ed vman about it..) but my dad promised me that if i don't reinstall cz until then and i listen he'll buy me the bundle.. (l4d and l4d2)
also is that uncle phil? from fresh prince of bel air?!?!
