So I recently reached level 80 and I started gearing up. The problem is I don't know what kind of gems to socket my gear with.

I am Holy for PvE and Disc for PvP. I started to gem my PvE gear just by going with my gut and not doing any research which was a stupid mistake. I did some research and find different views of people's oppinions and can't decide on how to go about this. I read that Intellect > spirit because more Intellect gives more mana regen. I stacked a crap load of Spirit and some Intellect on my PvE gear but I'm thinking I need more Haste and Spell Power/Crit(?). I find that I'm lacking in Haste and Spell Power, but i could probably use some more mana.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Elitist Jerks is NOT the place to ask something like this, you'll get slammed and probably your thread deleted. The EJ is for once you know your class inside and out, to get the most of it - which usually requires a lot of math and theory-crafting. They don't kid around by calling themselves elitist jerks.

Arena Junkies is KINDA the same deal, but you may get your question answered. It's more of a place for high-end arena players.

WoW forums suck balls, don't go there.

The best resource for a question like this, or "what's my rotation?" etc. is MMO-Champion forums. A lot of good stuff on there.

They still talk about mechanics, I didn't mean for him to go to it and start posting. Just wanted him to look at it and see if there was any valuable information, which there probably was.

Sure, there's a lot of great information and it's probably the greatest resource for PvE.

But is it relevant to the question and do they help or give any information whatsoever on starting out on your class? Absolutely not.

For the record I am an 80 priest that does end game raiding AND a regular poster on the EJ. Anyone new to the priest class or any spec would find mmo-champ. much more useful.

gem stam and resil in your pvp gear to start out, once you get a full pvp set you can replace those with spellpower gems, maybe some int gems, and spell penetration because you need around 100+ as a priest. 130 exactly to counter shadow protection/auras. you also need like 120 hit or you'll keep missing psychic scream

as far as using websites, you can read forums all day and still not know how to play your class. you can only learn by playing it yourself. that means run heroics, raids, and come up with your own play style, and not somebody else's that was posted on AJ or EJ. Maybe once you know what you're doing, look at those forums every once and a while. Cause there are some people that have the right gear and gems, but they just straight up suck at their class.

WoW is pretty diminished though
