I got Orange Box today and I installed it and crap and it says I can't run portals without Directx 8.0. I googled it and downloaded it and it still doesn't work.... EDIT: Got the same error for TF2. |

Lolz you are not even on DX8? What video card do you have!!!??? Seriously though, you must be on Direct x 7 or something, which is like really old school, you either: 1) Need to update your windows (if you have XP you can install DX9c) 2) Need a new video card (even a 5200 is DX9, you would have to have a geforce 4mx, 2, or lower to not have DX8+) So let me know what video card you have and I can help. |

Dont feel bad about that question, Ive had to do the same. Cole has a program that shows you the specs of your computer, and you could look up the specs of whatever your video card is according to the program. But it also sounds like you havent bought a video card for your computer, meaning its the standard POS one that comes with it. See, I know jack shit about computers, but I can still help. SUCK THAT BITCHES!!! |

Alright I right-clicked desktop, clicked properties, then settings, then adapter. It says Chip type: Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller. Is that it? |

start/run dxdiag and see which directx version you got and your videocard specs (under the display tab) |

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en Update your direct X. Your "card" is onbaord, and does NOT have enough power to play orange box. You need to buy a video card, right now you have no card, your motherboard is running the graphics for you. |
