Post subject:  troublshooting help
come keeps turning off and on with first boot....all the ligts on the cpu are colored as follows green, yellow, then red. any help ? thanks

something is not connected right
maybe its the fan that is not connected right and the system failure of the motherboard shuts it off. Try checking that.

Try to be more descriptive, I have never seen a processor with lights (besides on a fan), maybe it is on fire (green, yellow, then red fire?)

theres lights on the mo bo for some reason. I could be having trouble with the Front Leads(those really tiny wires that are connected to the ATX). Ill just go through again today and look at everything.

Sorry, that was going to be my recommendation. Also, does it have any beeps?

Beep codes will often tell you if something is not quite right...

there was a beep for the graphics card, not none now. all the fans are attached to the power supply, however do they also need to be connected to the MOBO as well? if so, how? there doesnt seem to be a good place to connect them into.

Yeah, just hook them to the power supply.

If you still have problems, un hook everything power related, then simply hook up the 24 pin power plug to the board, the video card power plug (6 pin) and the 4/8 pin power plug to the board, then test. You should get video, be able to navigate bios (del key) on startup with no fans, no hard drive, no cd rom, etc.

well the LED Lights i was talking about were to judge the load on the CPU...red being max load. So I re did the heat synch and the fan, properly putting that one that you told me to bought on it without any difference. Ill go through what you just said and see if that helps. Im guessing theres a short some where on the mobo and now im gonna have to figure out which one is shorting it out. sucksss

Yeah, but if you just unhook everything but the important things, you can rule out alot of stuff.

So all you need is the 2 mobo power cords, and the power cord for the video card.

And yeah, ignore the lights, its for some thing for power conservation that you will not use :) Chris's has it too.

Double check your front connections, do NOT connect the front audio (it turns off the rear audio). Hook power switch, hd led, power led, and reset, all "words facing down" style, and it should power up and display to your monitor. Last step, take out your video card, and re-seat it, alot of people do not put it all the way in (do the same for the ram too).
