Hey

So, i've got my VGA fan (Zalman VF1000 LED) connected up, put together. But the problem is the Power Cable connection, in the instruction I got given, it says that I have to connect the 3 pin connector to a 4 pin connector on the motherboard fan header because I have a controller with it. The cable from the Graphics card is connected to a holder thingy, then it goes into the controller box.

So basically:
VGA Fan 3 pin > 3 pin holder > controller box.
Controller box back to the 3 pin connector which SHOULD connect to the motherboard fan header.

Anyway, getting to the point. I can only find 1 motherboard fan header, which is already connected to the fan on the case!

Where the hell do I connect the 3 pin connector to power it up? Really? I have no idea.

Sorry if this didnt make any sence, but i'm pretty pissed because I thought it was going to be an easy process, which obviously didnt happen. :x :x

I think they mean the card's board, not the computer board. You want the card to power its own fan (so it can control RPM). I have never connected a video card's fan to anything but the card.

Nah, it was deff the motherboard.

I've basically done it now anyway, bit risky. My dad wired VGA fan cable into the Motherboard Fan Header which goes to the case, so far it works. If it doesnt hold up and breaks the computer, im up for a new computer.

It works fine atm, here are some pics on how we done it;

This is the motherboard fan header which connected to the case fan
Image

Here we cut the wire going to the fan header and the case fan, we then connected the VGA fan cable to it, and solded it together, then put electric tape round it (think itselectric tape)

This is just the wire to the case fan:

This is my new VGA fan:

This is the VGA fan controller.

I'm pretty sure it suppose be connected to video card.It looks like you had to to do a lot of shit for it to be connected to the motherboard.

Nope, it deff said Motherboard Fan Header, which is what I plugged it in too. Some have 2, maybe 4, but my one only had 1 which made it that much more difficult, only took about 10 mins to redo it.
