So I was talking to my dad about building a computer, he said if I can disassemble an old computer and put it back together, he'll give me 700$ for me to buy parts for a new computer. And if the computer I disassemble and put back together functions. He'll give me 300$ extra, but the downside is, if I fail at reassembling the computer, he'll only give me 1000$ instead of 1500$ to buy a prebuilt computer, what do you guys think I should do?

Edit: If I do decide to build a computer, can someone tell me if it's easy and teach me some basics? I googled a lot of stuff and a majority of the people said it's easy but, static can destroy some components?

i think you should learn the parts of the computer and then see where each goes, watch videos and take the assemble and re-assemble ;) because i just watched videos like that before taking 5 pc's apart (at school) and then re-assembling them. i got every part right. so that's helpful

My worries is that, I would get:
1) Scammed by a site selling parts
2) Messing up by buying the wrong parts
3)and generally failing at putting the thing together (not functioning)

Really appreciate the help, but can someone link me some good guides and a site that I can buy some good parts for a decent amount of cash? Budget would be 1000$ if I can rebuild a computer and if it works.

and another thing is if anyone can teach me the basics on motherboards and the whole being compatible with other things?

Thanks a lot!
Another thing is that motherboards realllly confuse me, and if anyone can teach me the basics would be really helpful thanks!

Well there are good websites that let u pretty much customize your computer, or u can buy a prebuilt one and add parts to it.

This is where i got my badass computer from, it was prebuilt and i added parts to it. The shipping was about a week and a half to two weeks if u dont want to upgrade. It comes a 3 year warranty if im not mistaking. You can also read customer reviews about each computer to see if its worthy

well in all honesty i would go with this just change that damn front to a different color and go with Windows XP not Vista. But i would like someone else to tell me if this is a good price for that computer before i tell Wonderbread to get it cuz i dont want to be responsible :D. Also read the customer reviews on it

Ey nvmnd the core i7.
My friend just got a complete setup and its a pain in the ass to deal with putting it together it because your going to need a complete different motherboard so looking at gamer's setup and looking at gdogg's find on cyberpower I would reccomend going with gdogg's find.

If all works well with my bank I might buy that computer also gdogg so kudos for your find!

EDIT: Just found a crazy deal http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/LAN_Party_Xtreme/
