The 9800 and the 4850 are about the exact same power (the 4830 is obviously lower)

9800 = 9600mp/s 33600mt/s 57.60gb/s
4850 = 10000mp/s 25000mt/s 64.00gb/s
4830 = 6900mp/s 18400mt/s 57.60gb/s

The 9800gt is the best value of the bunch (has the strongest processor), but also you are on a (almost) 3ghz Pentium 4, you are throwing this card into a 5 year old computer, so don't expect to play crysis on highest settings, lol.

Do you still have the 512 mb of memory, or have you upgrade that?

Sweet, if your OS is over a year old, reformat it, put in your new video card, and come play L4D.

Recovery disk that came with your computer, you have to back EVERYTHING up first, I reinstall my OS yearly (sometimes more often), it really speeds things up. But I have multiple drives though, nothing important on my OS drive besides games.

Na, then you are good to go. I was just saying if your OS had 4 years of use in it, it would be getting really slow, and when you upgrade you can go ahead and do both.

That being said, if you can afford a few more $$ (like 10), I would got for a 9800gtx+/gts250 (the full blown top version of the 9800).

oh. another question for you. i just checked up on my power supply connectors. i have a 6pin but it doesnt fit inside my current vid card. and i only have one 4pin for the 6pin pci-e card adapter but it never has said that there isn't sufficient power to the current card... so do you think it would still be ok for a higher powered card?

Most GTS250s require 1 6 pin connector, but I was looking at them and some of them had a 8 pin connector. So just get one that takes the 6pin.
