| Post subject: | new modem, needs setup for dlink |
yo guys im back my ISP provided me with free modem as a upgrade, they gave me a new IP for my computer, but im trying to figure out why dlink doesnt want to have me access the internet, i can go online directly attaching the cable to the modem, but if i connect it to the router, it wont let me. 207.194.172.50 is my new ip but when i go into cmd.exe and ipconfig it bring up the IP for the router 192.168.0.1. and i need to find out how to have dlink use the new IP and send its signal to my other computer so i can connect it with the network if anyone knows how to, either you can teamview it or step by step type it. thanks! |

Sounds like your modem is a simply a gateway or set to bridge mode, is this a cable modem (I bet) or a DSL modem? Assuming this is a cable modem, its a simple fix. Your modem is only allowed to attach to 1 device at a time. So since its attached to your computer (software), even after you unhook it, all you need to do is hook your dlink to your modem, and your computer to the dlink, and reboot the modem, presto, internet. |
