| Post subject: | Tool bar gone for XP and no Icons |
I have no start menu, toolbar, icons nothing just wallpaper. I have no idea how to get them back. I cannot boot in safe mode and I don't have recovery disks. Any suggestions? I am posting from another computer in the house. |

What exactly happens when you try safe mode? Sounds like explorer.exe is locking up. You can always try the safe mode menu on startup and try "last known good configuration" or do a system restore. If you can get into safemode command prompt (or recovery console via a XP disk) do a chkdsk then a chkdsk /r (I recommend doing a chkdsk /r at least once a month) |

I accidently closed explorer.exe in processes the last time I was on, When I try to go to safe mode the monitor goes to sleep, My icons are on the desk top its like my mouse can go beyond what my monitor sees to the right and sometimes I can drag icons over. |

ctrl+alt+delete File -> New Task -> explorer.exe |

I tried it, explorer.exe is already running, I think everythings there I just need to get a startbar and my icons centered. Edit-> Fixed, My grandma came over and fixed it, Thanks for the help. |

Dude my grandma is so bad. She doesn't even know how to start microsoft word or go to google.com and your grandma knows how to fix something that you couldn't google? damn... |

off topic.. my grandma doesn't even know what a computer is  (she still lives in romania and uses one of those 1945 phones...)
