My fuck up of a brother came home, and in the process My laptop got broken, or the screen cracked because it fell off a couch. I've been looking around ever since and it seems like if I take this to best buy its going to cost me all of my savings plus a hundred dollars to fix. If anyone could could help me out of this it would be a god send, that laptop was my brain at times.

I found these, it is feasible for me to try and do this myself? Or am I in over my head? Pretty sure the cracked screen is the only problem

that made it look relatively simple, is it really that easy? I've taken apart airsoft guns and they are more technical than that.

If I were you , I would first get a professional opinion of the damage to see if it really just is the screen.
And if it only is the screen that's damaged I would easily replace the screen myself by following that video tutorial. No doubt about it.

You'll save loads of money by doing it yourself, like you said yourself.

GL & I hope everything goes well!

That video looks like it would be really easy. If that is all that is wrong with it, go for it.

I replaced the hinges for the screen on a laptop once. It is all pretty easy. Just be careful taking off the casing, once you're in there's just a little cable to disconnect that goes to the monitor

Just make sure you have (or order) some decent small screwdrivers, it will keep you from stripping out any small screws. I bet you could do it yourself, but the real question is why is your brother not fixing it?

If you really need to use it now, hook it up to a monitor for the time being if the screen is unusable.

How do I go about doing that? I've got some small screws, but I'll probably run to the store and get more anyway. If I want it done I'll need to do it myself.

edit*

nevermind, that was really easy. good too know only the screen broke. I'm gonna run it by a local place tomorrow, and if its cheap enough ill just let them do it, otherwise ill fix it myself once the parts get in.
