I want a really good way to cool my 360. So far I've done this method:

Image
I took off the big fan because I realized it doesn't really do anything but keep the top a bit cool.

I was about to buy an Intec cooling stand (pictured below) but problem is that people say it's better to lay the console horizontally than vertically because more air flows properly.

Then my second decision was an Antec cooling pad (for laptops).

However, the problem would be that it would only cool the case. Am I right? Some people that use this method say that it really works well because it also cools the air the is released from the back of the console.

Both the cooling station and cooling pad cost no more than $20 total. Problem is I really cant decide which method to go with. I play my 360 at most 2 hours whenever I get the chance and if I have friends over, we end up playing longer than that. I'm confused with which is a better method because I need this badly right away. My console got RROD like 1 month ago and I got this second one but I want to take better care of it.

Your first method is funny.

Why can you post pics of this? But I still don't know what you look like?

And I have no real help.... GL!

Just leave it as it is, if your console got RROD a month ago they must have put good cooling. My xbox has only gotten one RROD like 1 or 2 years ago and it has been working fine since then.

My method will break its warranty, unless its out of warranty do what I say.

Do exactly what you are doing, except open up the top of the case and it will literally be 100x more effective. I know my friend who cools down his computers by leave the side panel of their case open and putting a fan there.

One of my roommates does this too (fan on his computer) cause he has a shitty case, dual video cards, and a overclocked quad core, he has to.

As for the Xbox, don't void the warranty, from what I understand, every xbox360 since the 1st ones are, are still replaceable for free, microsoft is doing this, because they know as soon as they stop replacing them for free they will get their asses sued off, since they have a 100% chance of failure even if used properly.

What you are doing with the fans on your fist pic, will work just as well as those other solutions. The important thing is to keep cool air flowing over it (aim at the intake), and not to leave it on overnight or anything, turn it off when you are finished (if there is an idle-auto off option, turn it on). Then about twice a year or so, clean it out with compressed air, aim for the intake and exhaust ports and blow all the dust out.

Well, the Xbox had 30% failure rate like a year ago. Since she said they had replaced it a month ago it should be completely fine without extra cooling on it. The xbox I have is one at least 2 hours a day because of netflix or games and it hasn't gotten a second RROD.

30% failure rate is misconstrued. It is a 30% reported (aka returned) rate. I would say at least 50% of every xbox bought has died, the missing 20% of the people just buy their kids a new one, because they know no better. Now that other 40% are people who just don't use their xbox360 very much, so they have not yet died. Leaving like 10% of margin of error.

My 100% is that they are all designed with the same problem, they all (100%) have the potential for the solder joint detachment and board flex from heat causing the 3-RROD, if you leave it on for hours, or play graphically intensive games (halo 3 killed a shit ton of consoles). They have put epoxy on the corners of the cpu and gpu to try to reduce solder breakage, but it is still happening.... the superglue is still not holding...

Yeah, I was about to take off the bottom vent and just leave the fan there.

Thank you and I'm not much of a camera person :P

Anyways, both the cooling stand and cooling pad aren't worth the money? I dont mind continuing what I do, it just makes the room cold and the fan is loud xD I just thought that buying which ever product would give better results and wont freeze me to death

Sadly yes. My pc is lame. Even though pc has more advantages, I still love it on the 360.

Water cooling is so complicated O_O I think I would end up destroying it in the process of trying that.
