Take out the card, remove the heatsink and clean it, re-thermal paste it, you may find a buildup of dust in it blocking some of it, leading it to overheat a different part of the card (like the PWM area). GPUZ is a good program to show temps. And 75 is high for that card.

You can also get a program like rivatuner and set the fan to 100% and see if that fixes it, if it does, you ask me how and I can help you set up a fan profile (it dropped my temps by 20c) so you can have it go to full at a lower pre-set temp.

Well, I have cleaned out the heatsink before but gave me the same problems. I use nvdia program to put program to put it on 100 percent (although I really don't know if the fan is going at 100 percent) Also, 75C maybe hot for the card, but this cards are able to go up to 105C.

105C is the turn off point for the GPU to save it, if I remember correctly. if the GPU's at 75c, and is considered hot, then other components of the card can/will be hotter than that. Such as the ram, things of that nature. Ya don't want those getting that hot.. Mostly because then you get card shutdown.

Then again, Cole, please correct me if I'm wrong on that point.

Also, 75 is as hot as it gets. Playing Modern Warfare would go around 70C which I'm pretty sure is fine for a card that is running graphic intense game.

To verify your fan, open your case, then turn it up, if the fan spins faster/louder then it is working. 75c is still a good bit high, I know it will work there, but the chip itself won't last a few years at that temp, and as peng said, other parts could be running hotter. 70 is the max I would let my card run, mine is known as a very hot card, and it runs around 70max, but I set up a profile to turn it to max fan at 60, so the card sits around 50% fan, and 55c most of the time.

Funny thing is that the case's fans make so much noise that I can't tell the difference. Well I have cleaned it up and everything, still crashes. The fan keeps on spinning even after the card crashes if that helps at all. Is there another solution? I'm 70% sure is heating problems but eh it could be something else. I been playing to day with the 9800gt card and it worked fine without getting black screen of death so it has nothing to do with PSU voltage as I saw on some forums.

Gay, although its been happening since the beginning when I received it. The only reason that its bothering me now its that Im playing more graphic intense games than before (like wow or tf2).
