Post subject:  Video Card Problems

Well I had this problem for a while. My PNY 9600GT seems to crash my whole system when I am playing a hardware intensive game. The screen goes black and says no signal. I have underclocked my card but the problem still persists. I thought it could be overheating but I checked the temperature right before it crashed and it was 69C. I'm pretty sure that about 75 and below is fine for a video card so I know it's not overheating. Anyone know how to fix this?

Oh nice, I got another problem, it seems my fist cannot reach your face across standard CAT5/ Copper Line. Is there a solution to this?

It's ok.. I found it funny.

As for the problem itself, perhaps the GPU isn't overheating, but something else on the card is? The probe won't tell you the entire card temp, typically just the GPU. You'd have to get a thermal probe to test the other parts of the card :T

Well, I suppose then it depends on what game is crashing it the most. Hard to determine the actual problem without knowing exactly what game it is. Some games push certain components harder.

Modern Warfare 2 and other late games. Although I have not had problems with Red Alert 3 and TF2.

... Odd. You shouldn't be havin' issues with MW2 if you aren't with RA3 and TF2. Noticed anything else goin' on right before it crashes? Any sounds or anything? Possibly sudden lag spikes. Things like that?

Nope, just a black screen of death. Which are random at times, from an hour of playing the game to 2 hours later.

Mmm, I used to have that problem when I had my 7600gt still. Pushed it on too hardcore of a game and it would just shut off, and I'd have to restart.. How long have you had the card?
