 Post subject: 2 Mapping Questions.

The map i am making for splak is an HE map, so I need to know how to make it so you spawn with only a knife. I got it so you spawn with and HE nade and put 20 on the floor. Also i am having trouble simply making a door or a opening. How can i go about making the door?

Youtube probably has some nice tutorials on how to make a basic hole in a wall for a door to fit in. If I remember correctly, you highlight your wall and then press the white box (or transparent box?) and then clip the wall into pieces and then delete the middle part.

Superjer has a forum just for troubled people like you so you can ask all the mapping questions you like to more experienced mappers. Also youtube is great.

Also, HE maps aren't very popular (imo).

And chunky. I know, I'm just hoping it makes the rotation. being my first map i don't want to go all out just to see me mess up.

put an info_map_parameters entity (if i remember correctly) and set it to "neither CT or T can buy" so nobody can buy anything

to spawn only with a knife, i don't really remember but i'm sure it's an entity with "weapon" in it

no, clipping is bad. just create new blocks for the outline of the door

I thought creating blocks for the door was bad. I used to do that and then was told clipping is a lot easiar so I did it.

How do I create the new blocks?

Also, I am thinking of changing this into a bigger map, but naming it Splak_RedRum

The lights are all red and theres 2 spawn rooms, a big hallway with 2 rooms that branch out.

But...How do you create an object, like a crate? I'm guessing its an entity?

New blocks as in 3 seperate peices for a wall, leaving a gap for a door to fit into.

Crates are just a texture. Create a box and then apply any crate texture you like.
