Post subject:  Firefox & Google Chrome wont work
I have no idea what happened, but for some reason firefox and google chrome both wont work on my computer
It says unable to connect whenever I open either one of them, but IE works fine.
I googled it all and still haven't been able to fix this shit for the past week or so.
It won't let me download anything either even if i use IE, and for some reason AVG anti virus thing i had downloaded wont work anymore...
Also tried system restore to see if that would work and it didnt..
(i checked for the firewall/proxy like it said and the network connection is fine)

can you ping out?

start>run>cmd

ping google.com

If you're getting a response, then attempt to download Malwarebytes on another computer, then transfer it over on a thumb.

Install>run full scan. Clear anything it tells you to.

Once that's done, go back to Internet explorer. Still verify that you don't have a proxy connection enabled. Also, go to your hosts file, and make sure you don't have a type of redirector.

Start>My Computer>C:/>Windows>System32>Drivers>etc.>hosts

Open with Notepad. Make sure you don't have anything pointing to somewhere you don't think it should be going.

A typical hosts file looks like this:

Now, if that doesn't work, let's make sure that you don't have a rogue AV locking down your firewall.

Remove EVERY SINGLE AV from your computer. I've seen McAfee/Norton/Symantec/AND AVG all lock down a firewall, and fuck everything up.

Let's make sure that that isn't the case.

If that doesn't work, please let me know, and we might have to dig deeper.

Also, you might want to try flushing your dns.

Type in command prompt ipconfig /flushdns

*edit* also got malwarebytes from friend and scanned and (it said i) removed everything it found..proxy settings checked, everything is alright there.viruses removed, host files should be good..removed all anti viruses and still nothing. :( oh yeah flushed dns like vman said also

This problem has happened to me before and it's really frustrating since I have tried many different ways to fix it. So far I have not gotten a proper way to fix it since the problem usually fixes itself. Try using ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.

I tried deleting the bottom host and saving and it wouldnt let me
also yeah i was able to ping out.
will try ipconfig thing for a while i guess

nvm.firefox and chrome will let me load stuff now, but it wont let me login to anything.
myspace/email/youtube etc.

Now install Microsoft Security Essentials as a primary AV, and quit looking at gay pr0n.
