I do not suggest anyone buy a gaming laptop, they run hot, they have issues, they cannot be upgraded, and cost 50% more than a desktop equivalent. You could build a quad core (that laptop is a dual) with better graphics, for under $800 that would stomp a hole in that laptop, then take the other $200 and buy a netbook that will last 8hrs on battery.

All of this is being typed on my work's 1yr old $4000 Dell XPS M1730 laptop (Core 2 Duo Extreme 2.8, and dual 8700gt's), that cannot even run L4D2 at acceptable fps.

What Cole said its true, plus it gets hot u can fry eggs on it(seriously). Don't get me wrong the laptop is decent but not at a gaming level, plus 11inch is a little too small to play on (i know someone is going to comment on this).

Did some more research for you, I was unsure what a "NVIDIA GT35M" is because... well, there is no such thing. I think it was a misprint, because there is a GTS350M coming out right now. The gts350m = gts250m but a die shrink (so runs cooler) but no performance increase:

There is also a chance that its is a GT card, not a GTS, so it could be even weaker, but I will go with "best case."

So with that knowledge, we can compare this to a desktop card:

Here is the card's performance numbers
GTS250M = 16000mt/s and 51.2mb/s

And here are some desktop cards:
$100:
GT240 = 17600mt/s and 54.4mb/s
$120
GTS250 = 47000mt/s and 70mb/s <-- value win

Also, the laptop gives no hint to the CPU speed that it runs, but just FYI, the fastest mobile Core2Duo is a 2.8 (the one in my work laptop).

So given that knowledge, I would you could spend (roughly)
$100 case + psu
$100 board
$120 video card
$75 Hard drive
$100 4gb RAM
$200 Quad core Phenom II 3.4ghz
$~$50 MISC (DVD burner, fans, etc)
= Under $800 shipped for a computer that I would easily say is 2x more powerful (video card and processor) than that laptop. You would have to track down a copy of windows (which is very easy).

Now, you could also spend about $100 less and get something to match that laptop, but why not spend the extra bit, and get 2x the power? If you are serious about getting a new computer, and don't want to build it yourself, I am in the process of starting a new computer company, and would be happy to build one for you anytime.

I got a mac that can barely run cz xD *PS, don't get macs for gaming.. for making music? Hellz yea.. games? NO..

If hes stated he wants a laptop maybe he travels and will have to move the computer alot.

Some people cant just do desktops.
