Does anyone know how to use quality of service or MAC filtering?

1. I know how to get through:

regedit
\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\
SOFTWARE
\
Policies
\
Microsoft
\
Windows-> then creating a new folder in which to create a new key (DWORD (32 -bit) Value)

The questions I have is: What should I set the value data to and does this value give my computer the priority?

2. Okay, for MAC filtering I know how to access the area in my router and find the other systems bumming from me, but how do I prioritize my system?

Pretty much I'm trying to limit bandwidth to other folks using my wireless...

Nope. I'm talking about the MAC filtering that is located at 192.168.1.1

Are you trying to limit them, or cut them off completely?

I have never heard of doing QoS through your computer/registry, we use QoS in our house, but we do it through the router, there is a QoS section on some of the higher end routers (mine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833122334 ).

MAC filtering is simply a white list, as in, a list of approved computers that can use your router, each network card on each computer has a Media Access Control address (MAC address) that is unique. If you enter in your mac address and turn on mac filtering, then only you (or any others you add to the list) can connect to your wireless.

I'm trying to limit their connectivity. They pay me and all to use my wireless but seem to fail to understand that unlimited download and uploads are a no, no. I want them to pay forever with shitty slow speeds on par with dial up, MWha MWha MWhahahahaha

So far I've only been able to find a few things on the Googles but where people explain how to do stuff, they also leave things out. Like this one... http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10932 ... limit.html I need to understand how this prioritizes my system over anything else because changing numbers on my registry seem to not make sense to me. Do you see what I'm saying?

That link is how to adjust traffic only in your computer, say you wanted to download a movie and game, on the same pc, you can set the movie to back off while you game, but if another computer downloads a movie, your computer can't override him, unless you do QoS at the router level. What router do you have, and do you have full access to it? You may be able to install a 3rd party firmware (upgrade your router for free) that gives you QoS settings.

There may also be an easier way to do this, like if they all use the wireless, and you use the wired, you may set the wireless to the lowest speed, like 1mb.

The Belgacom B-box: It's the second pic on this link http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... 4AaY96XvCw

I can't find any info on it because it's a wireless router used by the communist company know as Belgacom because all the info is in french and I don't speak Ghey.

Yes, I use a hardline to connect directly to it while they use wireless.

Try getting into it and setting the wireless speed low, there isn't much I can do with a french router.

Wireless mode, anything really slow? Also check WAN and home networking.

We could also do a web meeting and give me access to your computer, then I can dig around in that router for something, but it doesn't look like you have many options.

for wireless mode when I drop down the box it gives me 11b and 11g to select.

I didn't see anything in WAN or Home Networking.

I wouldn't mind doing the web meeting.
