My second External isn't showing up under My Computer. The hard drive is working and my computer is recognizing it as DMI USB 2.0 Storage under devices and printers. I checked disk management and found that it is not showing up in the first upper column but is showing up on the lower column, but with a red arrow on its tile. The disk does not have a drive letter at all and I'm not able to select it and assign it one. I've tried initializing it but it's giving me an unable to initialize massage.

Extra info: obviously I have the C: and recovery drive D: my first hard drive is listed as E:

Any help would be great, thank you very kindly.

It sounds like the device has lost it's formatting. This can occur when the MBR has become corrupted. I would search online for a partition recovery software. There are several out there.

You can also try setting a drive letter and see if it will let you.

In disk management, right click the area to the right of the disk (at the bottom half), change drive letter.

Nothing happens when I click over there. It shows up as: Disk 1 Unknown Not Initialized

This thing is about to become a target for S&W 442, it's angering me so bad. I really don't want to lose my John Wayne and Clint Eastwood collection :'(

Then, yes. It's lost it's formatting. It is likely what we consider to be a "RAW" disk. I would google Raw to NTFS conversion. If any of the programs ask you to format, say no.

^This, if the drive has data on it that you want.

If you don't care, you can initialize, partition, then format the disk and it will wipe it. I think to initialize you right click the drive (in disk management).

If there is any info on that drive still around, that will delete it. Just making sure you know that.

Yeah, that sucks... I'll have to get all my movies again. The drive doesn't even show as to it having stored anything and I can't get it to show up to even format it so I'm going to have to use something to write zeros.
