Hey,

For some reason, i've started having trouble with one of my external hard drives for no apparent reason.

I can plug it in via USB, and it will start up (Can feel it running) it'll be picked up on my computer under printers & devices. I get a quick glimpse of it under my computer (G:\) but then it disappears. Unable to locate it in disk management.

Any ideas?

try a new usb cable?

Pull the drive out of the enclosure and stick it directly into the PC via SATA/IDE?

Ouch, if it is under warranty, and has no important data that you need off of it, just send it back. Otherwise, what Chris said, open it up and put it in a PC.

I'll have to try and open it up - if I remember how I put in there.

Luckily, it's only an old laptop hard drive (From when I first joined Splak in 2007) I just simply put it into an enclosure. Its probably one of the connection. Nothing important on it, more of a media hard-drive to plug into the TV (for movies etc etc)

I'll check it out though, cheers guys.
