I'm in the market for one now, can spend no more than $1500. Was looking at iBuyPower, but I've heard some shady shit about them. Any suggestions?

Cole built* :P

Can you build a computer yourself, if so I can suggest every part and you buy/ship to your place and build, or do you want/need someone to build for you?

*I am serious about this, I will build you a computer if you so desire, I even have some parts on hand that I can sell for a discount. I don't check the forums too much so I will go ahead and subscribe to this post.

$1500 is overkill, you can build a high end rig and monitor(s) for that price.

You are going to need:
$220 Intel I5 k series or $320 I7 k series
$180 Motherboard
$80 8GB of DDR3 1600 (or higher) RAM
$100-200 240-512GB SSD + mechanical storage if necessary (I suggest external or internal 2-6TB)
$120-400 Geforce gtx750ti, gtx760, gtx670, or gtx770 (order of power, there is also better, like 780ti, but we are in the $600 card range at that point)
$100 Case (I can only suggest, you need to pick) with lots of airflow/fans
$40 CPU cooler (cooler master hyper 212 evo)
$15 DVD burner
$70 Power supply
=$925 minimal

Not gonna lie Cole, was pretty much waiting for you to show up. I've every intention of making this computer run intense games well, and have it last a long time. If I have to pay more for it, I'm willing

I think I might let you just build it. I've messed around with computers, but I don't want anything to screw up here.

Went on Neweggs and just picked stuff:

$339.99Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K
$219.99 ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
$80.99 G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR
Tried to look up a harddrive, but I don't know what 2 6tb means
$349.99EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling 02G-P4-2774-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card
$99.99Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0. Not sure which fans are compatible
$34.99Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
$19.99ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM
$89.99Fractal Design Integra R2 750W ATX12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Probably went a little overkill on that total, and that's not including the 1TB harddrive I want. I didn't pick out fans either, and I'm gonna need a wireless network adapter.

It's also quite possible that some of these parts are incompatible. I'm not sure.

I picked out pricier parts, because I really want this thing to be a monster in gaming. Nevertheless, I took your considerations in mind. Question: why 8gb of ram? Is ram not that important, as compared to the Cores, the Video Card, the Cooling and Power supply, in regards to gaming?

I'd much prefer to discuss this on TeamSpeak/Vent if possible, if only to catch up on the good ol' times

Yeah, it would be best to talk on teamspeak, but you did pretty good. 8GB is plenty, 4GB+ only matters for a very small number of games. I have built 16GB computers for friends, but they will tell you they have never gone over 8GB so it is $80 unused.

Alright, I'll talk to you tomorrow then, as today is shaping up to be a busy day.

Any insight on the company iBuyPower?

Bobby, subscribe to this post like I have and I will notify you when the new video cards come out, should be in the next 30 days or so. If you are not willing to wait at any point and want to pull the trigger on this, post on here and I will set up a time on TS where we spec out the whole PC.

I'd avoid that X79 setup, its a 2 year old platform, its Intel's 6 core high end platform, but uses their old chips, its actually going away and being replaced by X99 like right now. http://www.brightsideofnews.com/2014/08 ... rd-leaked/ There is no reason to get the X platform unless you want a 6/8 core chip, buy X and putting in a quad is like getting a 4 cylinder Lamborghini. The Z97 quads beat the old X79 hex cores.

GTX960, will be out in September. They are "skipping" 8 series since the 750(ti) is really an 8 series and they also already had used the 8 series names in laptops for a long while with 6/7 series chips.
