Post subject:  Proccessor Problems

Today my computer started out fine but then it slowed everything down. I restarted and kept getting an error saying disk reading error. I checked the cables and then it start. Took like an hour for it to start and when i was finally logged in, it was slow as hell. I checked hardware monitor and my processor was at 59 C which isnt good. I let the pc rest but when started it still was at 54 C. Right now im going to try to do a disk check to see if its fine but my money is on the processor.

Try doing a chkdsk /r but said couldn't open volume for direct access so right now im doing it without restarting, which seems to be working. Could it be hdd or proccessor or both?

What kind of processor, if its P4 based, than those temps are not too bad.

yea, its a P4, but its weird that it starts with that temp, usually starts with 30 and moves to 40, and after a while it would be 50. I thinkits the HDD though, now i got to buy a new hdd and power supply

Uh, just use it and see how it works, if you do another chkdsk and there are no errors, you should be fine.

A disk compaction should speed it up.
