For all those people bitching that they can't play source games:

http://www.woot.com

$455 shipped
2.2 Quad (phenom 1, but the fixed one xx50 model).
6gb memory
640gb hard drive
vista home premium 64 with media center

If you get that computer and a $100 video card you will be able to play everything out at full (or near full) settings. I would not go for a high power video card because then you would have to replace the Power Supply too.

I spent around 2g's for my main computer (really about 1600, had lots of the parts already)

Quad Xeon 45nm penryn based 3350 2.66ghz Overclocked to 3.5ghz and under volted (1.18v).
8gb of DDR2 1066
1.2TB C drive (Dual WD 640gb black edition drives in raid 0)
500gb D drive External for backups
320gb E drive External for moving stuff (empty right now)
9800GX2 (twin 9800gtx's) 1gb
Custom water cooling (3 fan radiator, Dtek water block, swiftech NB block)

I also have a server downstairs for movies and tv shows to stream to any computer in the house or one of the 2 xbox media centers, it has a 1.5tb drive, and 2-250gb (for music and backups). The server is also backed up to a 1.5tb external.

I also have a older AMD 2.2ghz computer, with a raptor 74gb and an 80gig drive for backup, out at a datacenter, this is the splak test server plus any other server we plan on running, if we get serious about servers and want to start hosting some games on them (like we plan on) then I may upgrade this to a modern quad core pc with lots of memory and such.

I have a few more, one at my step moms house (not even turned on ever) and a laptop I have that I use about twice a year on vacations.
