It will likely be washed away by the current, or by the first monsoon/tsunami to roll through there. However, the process is AMAZING! There was a great documentary on the science channel on this very process about a month ago. It was very interesting.

Really? I think this stuff is really fascinating. I suppose that makes since about being washed away, since it is only debris and sand cooling on the top with a little bit of lava rock going down to the volcano rather than a mountain being pushed up.
Have you ever seen stuff on the Galapagos Islands? Holy crap, they are gorgeous because of how natural they are.

Yes.
I was going to be a marine biologist until I realized I hate deep water when I was ~14. Up until then, I was obsessed with skates, rays, and sharks. Now, I'm obsessed with not finding any of the afore mentioned when i'm in shallow water. :P

No way. Me too. Lol. I scuba dive, yet am a hydrophobe before I get in the water or if I can't see the bottom...badly...And I don't do murky. Ever. It scares me. Lol. But you could do some sort of land job, eh?

I'm way to old to uproot and go back to school to follow something like that. I'm contempt in IT. It pays the bills, and allows me to play with some REALLY cool stuff.

SSI certified since I was 12, and have over 100 logged dives. We went all over the caribean when I was younger. That was when my dad paid for it, I don't have any diving buddies now, so have not been in around 8 years. My dad used to be in Mel Fisher's shipwreck treasure hunters team, I wish I could do something that awesome one day.

Dude,

I used to love coming over to your house and listen to your Dad's stories. He was an awesome, awesome person who saw more in his short life than I could in 30.

...just sayin.

He was also a pilot and had a motorcycle... both things which I would love to be/have.

No way! Haha that's cool. I have quite a few dives....I've been diving every summer for about 5 years now and am regular, advanced, and rescue certified. This next year I'm getting certified as a divemaster and can start working at the marine biology camp I've been going to. We should totally be dive buddies! Lol

Woah.... There is someone with a more awesome life than Cole?
I mean, I thought you were awesome/superman, but I guess you got it from your dad.

Also, idk how to explain it, but when I'm in the ocean and I swim a little out I get so paranoid when I can't touch the bottom. I absolutely hate large bodies of water from fear of sharks and just plain old scary big ocean. But I won't be scared if I have simple snorkle gear. I get freaked out when I can't see what's under me.

Its an entirely different world under water, SCUBA diving is still one of the most exciting things I have ever been able to do, stingray city in the Caymans was epic, so was Hawaii and Cozumel. The "great wall" in the caymans was also awesome, literally the ocean floor drops from 50ish feet to a vertical wall that goes 1000+ feet down, we got to like 140ft for like 2 minutes (the deeper you go the faster your tank runs out), everything loses all color and looks grey, then your turn on your lights and all the gray fish suddenly have bright vivid colors.

The initial investment (tank, BC, reg, wetsuit, fins, mask, gloves, lights, certifications and training) is not cheap. Back in the early 2000s I could drive down to Destin (5hrs), rent a tank and reg for like 30 bucks and take the boat out to the Jetties or use the GPS to go to local dive spots. My family and I lost all our gear (I had all but tank and regulator) when hurricane Ivan hit Destin and our boat's Dock-Box was ripped off the dock and floated away. Then my Dad was unable to do any more dives so I kinda lost interest. I would love to go again, but I really would want to live somewhere closer to the ocean, get my advanced cert, have all my own gear and just be able to go whenever.
