Camaro SS 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, quarter mile in 13.3 Mustang GT 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, quarter mile in 13.1 Would not say anyone was left in the dust, but the new camaro is a heavier powerful car, its more in the class of what the GTO was, too much weight IMO. The new mustang has finally done everything right for 2011 imo (besides the ass of the car looks worse), shed some weight and gained some power. After 16 years the mustang is back... but I will not be buying either, these cars are supposed to be competitive cars for cheap. 30-33k for a camaro/mustang is laughable, when you can pick up a slightly used (less than 50k miles) C6 for 28k, or even a LS3 Z51 car for mid 30s, if you can deal a real sports car (aka only 2 seats). |

Mustangs always receive higher consumer ratings than any of the new muscles. |

I completely agree with Cole. But being a former owner of 2 5.0's, and a former classic Mustang owner. Im still gonna end up buying a 5.0 stang around next spring break. |

Ive already had my discussion on what I think is the cheapest for the most power sports car for less money which is a honda or other tuners. I don't like the rear end on the mustang but I might get a body kit for it. And the price for the new SS comaros are like 45,000+. You can get a brand new 5.0 starting out at 29,000, You get better handling and better gas mileage and almost as much horsepower as a 6.2 liter V8 for $15,000 less. I just want the new 5.0 because it an affordable payment (500 a month) has way more than enough horsepower for me coming from driving a 230 hp car and its still gets ok gas mileage and I can still fit 3 passengers in it instead of 1 like a vette. |

That was not meant to be a direct attack, simply dollar for dollar tuners give you some of the absolute worst performance gains out there, compared to performance cars. For example: My G35 would take $2,000 (exhaust, CAI, and upper and lower intake manifold), to bump from 306hp to 330hp. While my roommates C6 with the same mods would go from 400hp to 500hp, while getting better gas mileage than me, with a smaller, lighter, cheaper engine, that arguably will last longer (does 1800rpms going 80, while mine is running at 3000). If we were both were to put forced induction on our cars, I would see around 450hp, while he would be well past the 600s. Compare this to a 1990 civic vs 1990 5.0,while reducing the power of each by half, but the gains in a 5.0 are awesome, while a civic, takes thousands just to make 300hp. A Civic with a turbo b22 does not equal a Skyline GTR, even if it can somehow match it down a quarter mile, its still a shitbox with 400hp that will be lucky if the motor does not blow up in a few thousand miles. |

Yes civics might take $13,000 all in all to beat a 30,000 or 40,000$ car. Hondas have really nice H22 motors that are built to take 18-22 pounds of boost. But the civic upgrades are cheaper and the corvette superchargers are really exspensive. If you're going to dog a car you will have to replace parts. I don't think Hondas are shitcans, I just think there a fast cheap car for people that want to build a fast car for under 20,000$. |
