Dude the amount of times the lighting discharged on that one spot. What happened to it never striking in the same place? Imagine if you were at that place. You'd be one crispy critter.

I think that's still what we would classify as one strike. I guess once the electricity finds a path, it's easiest to connect those two A and B points, so it just sends charge after charge. Less resistance. That's why it only takes one hit to split at tree. It all makes sense now. O.O
