CPUs are quite awesome, they are made more or less kinda the same way a tshirt design is silk screened on, just on a tiny level. Unfortunately we have almost hit the limit of the way we gain power on a computer (by shrinking the trace process), in 2005 we were at 90nm, 2007 65nm, 2009 45nm, 32nm chips are out now, 22nm is slated for 2012, once we hit the single digits, we will hit a wall, because we will be at the size of an electron, this will happen in the next 10 years.
