Post subject:  F***in' MOLD

So.. on tuesday night my ac airhandler drain pan gets clogged and leaks all over the carpet in my hallway. The leak somehow caused the unit to short out so me and my grandfather decided its time to replace it. My grandfathers friend, being about 65 years old, remembers installing that unit in the house back in 1973, along with the ducts and the outside unit.

So as we remove it and get a view into all the ducts in the house, they're all coated with mold. Thick, black (am I turning you on Ace), stinky mold, that has been growing in there for Jah knows how long. So now I have to get all the ducts AND the air handler unit replace, they also have to spray the entire attic and inbetween some walls to get the mold to either die, or stop spreading.

Upon inspecting the attic, the AC guy says I need more insulation blown into the attic because over the years it has basically just sank and desintigrated. So now I also have to come get them to blow more insulation in the attic.

So all in all, Im 1600 dollars in debit and I cant go into my house until the 19th, this friday.

Man you have had a string of bad luck but it has to even out so hopefully there will be some good news coming your way. Sucks to hear that money go away like that when it could have been used better but atleast you and no one in your family got sick from the mold. I hear that some types of mold can really make you sick.

Man sorry to hear this. If it makes you feel any better I took my g/f to ride her dirt bike, when I was loading it up, after the cop told me to leave the abandoned parking lot, I had to slide the rear of the bike over to make some room, and the front was strapped down, so I picked up the back of the bike (by standing on the left side), as I set it down the kick stand crunches my broken toe, took some skin off but it will be fine. I just have to go to the orthopedic to check again on the break, get to explain to him why my toe is all skinned up.

The cop was cool, he just said he had no problem with it, but whoever owned it could call and get us for trespassing etc. So we just loaded up and left, he even left before we started loading up the bike.

Dang you guys sorry to hear that.

I remember at my old barracks I had an AC that was like that. the pan would clog up from mold and then the AC would shut off. To keep from flooding (at that time I didn't know) So I took off the plunger so the AC would keep on running. This was in the middle of June in Georgia and I was getting impatient with the AC turning off. Two days later I walk into my room and there's this big ass puddle in my room. I was like dag yo. I threw all my towels on it and my bed spread and all the bed sheets I had  I also put the plunger back into the pan and decided not to touch it again. I then dumped a whole lotta bleach into the pan and never had problems with it agian.

Long story short, did you get impatient and happen to touch that plunger thing in the water pan?

Yeah, we had the same issue a long time ago, the guy said put bleach in the pan about once a year and it will kill everything in the pan and down the pipe, clearing it all out. But since its in your ducts, thats a hole-nother level of f-ed up.
