What do you want to do with your MIS degree??
Just some advice, from my experience as a "fresh out of college" MIS guy:
After 5 years of programming I was burned out on it (Was also a computer science major for 2.5yrs), so I decided to go in the IS field. I am a Computer Consultant / System and Network Administrator for a small firm (5 people), I'm the hardware / software guy. The pay is good, and I don't have to sit in a cubical programming all day, I get to get out and put together server racks, install servers, build workstations, charge people money just to tell them what they need, then get it for them, install it, teach them how to use it, and then maintain it.
If you want to go the IS/IT route, I would recommend getting some summer jobs asap in what you enjoy doing, its very hard to move up in the IT world without experience, I worked 4 summers and 1 school year (part time) doing IT work so that when I got out of school I didn't have to answer phones for general helpdesk work for a year before I could get a better job. If you can get a job on campus in the IT dept, it will look really good on your resume and can help you get a systems admin job right out of school
If you want a programming job, you can do some web design freelance for experience.
IS/IT people are very underpaid at the start of our careers. My first real job out of school almost made me laugh when they told me my salary, I now make double what I made then and that was less than 3 years ago, but our pay is directly related to how much experience you have.
