No. 1Q: Counter-Strike is running unusually dog slow. My ping is skyrocketing when it used to be fine
or my ping is high when I know it has nothing to do with location or insufficient computer hardware.
A: You may need to set your rates. To set your rates, you will need to go into console and type the following commands:
Code:
rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 40
cl_updaterate 40
No. 2Q: I'm tired of the ordinary sprays (such as the Skull, Half-Life Symbol, or Smiley Face). How to I create a custom spray like I see other people using?
A: Check out Stack's guide on
How to make your own sprays:

No. 3Q: Every time I log onto Steam, it gives me an error message such as, "Steam Temporarily Unavailable, Try Again Later."
or When I try to launch a game off of Steam, such as Counter-Strike, Steam tells me that, "Game is Currently Unavailable." I have already restarted my computer.
A: The problem may not be with you, but with Steam instead. A common bug is with a file in Steam called
clientregistry.blob. The easiest way to fix it, is to delete it.
To do this, you need to go into your Steam directory. This can be found in either of two places (make sure you have Steam closed, first):
C:\Program Files\SteamorC:\Program Files\Valve\Steam Once deleted, Steam will redownload a fresh one when you start it next time - and your issue should be solved!
No. 4Q: When I play ingame, I hear an echo everywhere I go.
A: It's a common bug that can be easily fixed. You need to go into your Console and type the following: room_type 1
No. 5Q: I herd other people talking about using custom skins on their default weapons. How do I install skins and sounds?
A: Look at the
Installing Skins and Sounds on Condition Zero Tutorial
No. 6Q: My mic is
not working or it is
very low
A: There are a couple of solutions to troubleshoot this issue. Here are some tips:
1. Make sure your microphone is plugged into the right port all the way
2. Check the Windows' Audio and Microphone panel to make sure your microphone is not muted and up fully
3. In Counter-Strike - make sure your Voice Enable is on. To do this, type
voice_enable 1 in console.
4. Download the latest Sound Card drivers for your computer. This is especially true if you have reformatted your computer and haven't already done so.
5. Test your microphone in another computer. Your mic may be broken and not functional at all.
6. In Counter-Strike - make sure on the
Voice Tab under
Options, the Voice bars are set all the way to the
right. Check
Boost Microphone Gain if needed as well.
No. 6Q: When I try to open up a game in Steam, it tells me I need to buy it, but
I've already bought it - what gives?
A: Don't worry, it's another frequent Steam bug. The solution is typically simple:
restart Steam. If that doesn't work, try deleting your
clientregistry.blob (directions can be found on No. 3)
or restart your computer.

***NEED the help from the entire community - this FAQ is no where near finished. If you have posted a technical issue that you have had in the past and have the solution - please post! Or, if you have any issues that you know of that are commonly done, please post as well. Also, someone correct me on the 'rates' list to make sure I covered everything completely. I'll plug in all your posts, and then delete them all once I get through 'em, and of course give credit where it's due.
Thanks!(and I wouldn't mind PePTo if you would edit my grammatical errors
)
