i'm sorry awol, but that is a RETARDED statement. at 11 yrs. old, you have NO idea of the concept of what sexual relations is. PERIOD. to even think differently is ridiculous.

aside from that, the REAL problem isnt the fact that some retard has decided to give condoms to children and tell them to go fuck whoever they want, its the fact that they are doing this without the parents permission.

the SCHOOL BOARD chose to do this, not the parents. and the parents cant do anything about this.

as a matter of fact, its against the law for the parents to find out if they went to the nurse's office and asked for condoms, they dont feel that its the parents right to know. The parents would be impeding on the kids privacy.

and the parents cant even get the code changed, they have to wait until the next election before they can vote out the current members of this school board.

my question to you is, if the condom busted; who would be raising the child, the 12 yr. old or the parent of the 12 yr. old?

...yet, how is this not any of the parents business.

most if not all birth control pills are a type of hormone (i haven't done my homework, but i would assume this to be true as I'm sure most are)

i would doubt that there would be documented proof as to what these hormones could do to a 10 yr olds girls body.

Normally, you'd be right. However, there are a few things....

No one in middle school is 11 or 12. They are 13 and 14. They have a good idea of what sex is. That's what middle school seems to be all about to the kids, because they find everything else a waste. Middle school is the school where you really start to learn about it.

Also, the parents do have a choice. They can CHOOSE to enroll their kids in the program that offers the contraception, or they can refuse and the kid only gets ibuprofen, ice, etc...

So yeah. It is a choice thing. And, yeah, the kids DO have an idea what sex is. Middle school is all about it. (Unless, for some reason, you're in an area that is extremely naive.)

Chris, the reason why they have the rules where parents shouldnt know about what their kids r doing with their sexual life is cause the kid is scared of what their parent(s) might do....
I read a story about a young girl, about 11 or 12, who had sex with a neighbor who was older, and then she told her mom to be truthful. Then her mom killed her, cause she thought her daughter was commenting a sin...

Also, its different case when teenage girls try to ask for contraception.

awol, i'm not sure what your "middle school" is considered to be, but where i'm from, we have "middle school" as grades 5-8, with the average age being in the 5th grade around...

so...there may be a discrepancy on what our "middle school" could be considered, but at the same time, to be looking @ a 12-13 yr. old as a mentally/physically matured adult is rediculous.

These are decisions that are still hard for adults, there is NO way that this is something that a kid of that age can wrap their heads around. If that were the case, that they were matured enough to be able to understand these things, why not give them drivers licenses, and allow them to buy alcohol. Hell, they are able to have children w/ no recourse, lets let a 12 yr. old vote in the next election, and give them the ability to choose to go to school if they want to or not. They know better at that age, they have matured enough to know that school is the right thing to do. They will show up on their own. Just like most 13-14 yr. old girls are trustworthy enough to take a pill EVERY day, at the same time everyday.

BTW Gigi. murdering your child is a bit extreme. You cant have that as an example because that just is not a normal thing.

Okay, here, middle school is 7-8. Also, this isn't kids having babies "with no recourse." This is PREVENTING IT. I'm NOT saying they are old enough to have kids, nor be able to take care of them, or anything like that. What I'm saying is, kids in middle school HERE experiment with sex ALL the time. While it may not be a big thing out where you are, it is here. It happens A LOT. And often times, someone gets pregnant.

I guess things really are different area to area. In this area, it's SMART to offer these kids contraception. The fact is, whether adults like it or not, KIDS HAVE SEX. They have it as much as possible, and don't care enough what happens to them. I don't agree with it, but if the kid is gonna do it, then at least have the common sense to hand him/her contraception. Not doing it is like looking away from them and hoping that you're refusal is going to make it not happen. That's just naive.

Also, I don't know about you're middle schools over there, but most if not all of them here have sex ed. classes that are mandatory. So, yeah. The kid is exposed to it early.
