I sincerely disagree w/ you again. To say it is happening anyways so you might as well just let it happen w/ out trying to deter it is ridiculous.

To point out how ridiculous, try using it in another statement. "The percentage of people murdering people over a bag of chips is up, but its going to happen anyways; so we might as well just give people bullet proof vests to carry around instead of trying to prevent it."

Instead, lets try to instill a moralistic mindset into our youth to know that murder is a bad thing, and pray that they are reinforced at many different levels, ESPECIALLY at school that violence wont solve anything and is a bad thing.

I would be hard pressed to find that someone would disagree with that statement.

I'm not saying that sex is a bad thing between two consenting adults, I'm saying its a bad thing between two kids who probably don't even know how to balance a checkbook or how to drive a car. Hell, most of these kids probably don't even know who the first president of the United States was... and you think these people are responsible enough to sleep together? seriously...

You seem to think these people are handing the kids guns with which to shoot people over chips. Wrong. They're handing them the bulletproof vests. Look, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying that it's bad to discourage the kids, but if they are going to do it anways, and they ARE, then they might as well be safe. Seriously, you can't compare sex to murder. It might be promoting sex, to an extent. But that's like saying having a sign that says "Gun Shop" is promoting murder...

The kids have the OPTION of contraception, IF they are going to have sex. It's not "HERE ARE FREE CONDOMS, NOW GO HAVE SEX!!!" Much like it's not "HERE ARE GUNS, NOW GO KILL SOMEONE!!!"

Sorry, Chris, but I can't give up on my side. You just haven't convinced me yet that it's a bad thing. I hope you don't think worse of me for sticking to my guns. Realize I'm not trying to be stubborn, because I really am working my head around this and thinking about it. You know?

i agree that kids DO have sex, this girl who's locker is next to mine (shes like a hoebag) i saw her pull out a condom and shove it in her pocket(im in 8th grade). But, i also agree that if you teach people not to do stuff in the first place, then it'll just get better than it already is (or somthing like that)

Eh, When I see Chris example is where it fails. I wouldn't see it like that. I would see it like theres murderers outside, even if you try your best out there to stop them, you still going to have someone killed another person. To help from more deaths, give the people the option of giving them a bulletproof best on, its their choose if they want to use it or not. Apply that to the contraceptions thing.

i think kids shouldn't have sex..if the girl got pregnant at a young age, good chance she'll die and the guy will be depressed...he'll have to take care of the baby who reminds him of her..not to mention he'd probably be kicked out of his house

All I'm saying is that it's smart to offer the contraception. If the kids are going to make a bad choice, they might as well have some level of safety. I'm not saying it's a good thing these kids are doing it. I'm saying it's a good thing they are being given the option. Looking at it as promoting sex is a very one-sided point of view. It's promoting safety. You think these kids won't get the idea that they are SUPPOSED to use this?

Anyways, as I mentioned before, being stubborn in refusal and looking away, hoping that it won't happen is naive. If you're kid came up to you and said "I'm going to have sex. I want a condom." Would you really refuse him? If you did, he'd hate you, have sex, get her pregnant, and blame you. Of course, you're probably going to have a good talk with him before that, but in the end, you're wisest move is to hand him the condom. God, do you hate it, yes. But man, you won't regret it.(Unless it busts, lawl)

Also, you said instill a moralistic mindset...Well, America and the school systems promote free thinking and options. With all of this "be unique" propoganda, do you really think forcing a mindset on a bunch of rebellious kids who are "finding" themselves is a wise idea? They're gonna fuckin' hate their teachers! Instilling a moral mindset is easier said than done...The offer at this middle school is being done for kids 13-14...Not to kids who it's easy to instill a "moralistic mindset" in...

Controversy, controversy... What is the lesser of the two evils? "Promoting sex"(safe[r], however), or blindly allowing kids to impregnate their girlfriends because you're moral mindset sounded like BS to their ears and "all they wanted was a condom..."

Again; I don't agree with what kids think. Yeah, I used to think the same way; "Morals are overrated." But I don't think that way anymore. I'm just trying to face the facts. Facts>Moral problem=safer sex is the route to go
