I was shocked that somone like Nogueira (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, a former UFC heavyweight champion and the first Pride Heavyweight Champion) basically an MMA legend; lost to a young gun Cain Velasquez in the first round by getting out boxed and KO'd. It's dissapointing seeing a legend lose to a new guy but also exciting because of how the UFC and its fighters are progressing and getting better. Before you would only see men of pure talent in their respected fighting style (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Royce Gracie, Shoot fighting - Ken Shamrock, etc.) but now a days all the fighters train in every fighting style and basically have to be a more well rounded and knowledgeable about the other fighting styles. This leads to more exciting fights, so I can only be happy :).

On that same note, one legend that is still fighting; Randy Couture seems to only be getting better with age. I can only hope for more exciting matches with Randy Couture fighting.

Wanderlei Silva is an absolute beast, one of my favorite fighters and im def. happy that he beat the british Bisping (sorry England)

Maybe one day the great Fedor Emelianenko will step foot in the UFC cage and take on one of the greats (Randy, Chuck)

My favorite fight would have to be Stephan Bonar and Forest Griffin in the 3rd round of there contract fight, they beat the hell out of each other.
My favorite moment in the UFC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40-Nr6lKNMU <-- No offense but shut the Brits up real quick.

I just read this, but what does this have to do with UFC? I mean thats cool your trained with guns but im 100% sure
their illegal in UFC or any cage fighting events.

I'm a little disappointed at the match card for UFC 111, this Saturday March 27th.

Georges "Rush" St.Pierre vs. Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy

Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin

Pretty much the only reason is because I'm not one of those huge GSP (Georges St.Pierre) fans but I do know and respect about how good of a fighter he is. As much as I would like the underdog (Dan Hardy) to win I can't doubt the skill of GSP, and that's why I feel he will come out victorious.

As for Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin, honestly I have never seen Shane Carwin fight so I don't know much about his style but one thing I do know is that Frank Mir is a sore loser but has some skill. (Not enough to beat Lesnar straight up though , leading to his uncalled for remark) I just hope Lesnar is able to fight Mir again and whoop his sorry ass :Po

An interesting thing I read is that this will be the first time a British fighter has ever fought for a UFC title. (gg Brits)

Ok I think GSP is goinjg to win because of his striking and wrestling skils and Dan hardy is just a no name in my eyes.
For Frank Mir he is an excellent fighter and very good at jiujitsu. The first 2 fights Brock out weighed
Frank so that wasn't even fair, Brock sucks he has no standup and all ive seen out of him is him using his
oversized steroid freakish body to lay on the fighters and ground and pound, but Mir is training with with
the men from the worlds strongest man competition and is going to weigh as much as Brock and when he
win's this fight he is going to fight Brock and win, unless Brock keeps on bitching about how he has
a stomach ache or whatever.
And Brock is the sore loser, when Frank beat Brock it looked as if he was going to cry and bud light
was the sponsor that night and he said fuck bud light I drink budweiser lol. I have just always hated
Brock he needs to take his whiney cry baby steroid taking ass back to the WWE.

I don't doubt the skill of Frank Mir but I'm sorry he is the cry baby in this case. He publicly said he wants Lesnar to be the first UFC fighter to die from ring related injuries. If that doesn't scream immature then I dont know what does.

I do agree Lesnar is a bit over the top but I haven't seen anything about steroid use. Everyone knows about his freakish body and says he's slow and can't really handle MMA but he has proven himself to be one of the best contenders. For a man as big as him his speed is really one of his advantages. I have never seen anyone that big move that fast.

Lesnar hasn't seen much MMA action since his injury, I doubt he is pussying out, you have to remember being a fighter takes balls and the second someone smells fear in his opponent its game over. You have to be confident and I'm 100% sure Brock Lesnar isn't holding off fighting because he's scared of Mir.

People seem to forget Lesnar is a NCAA heavyweight championship wrestler and not just some freak from WWE (scripted live entertainment).

I can agree with Mir saying that Lesnar didn't deserve a title shot as early as he did but he proved himself by winning against one of the greatest and most exciting fighters ever, Randy Couture.

It's all just a matter of opinion and healthy competition.

Anyone else besides me and Jamesbond watch MMA/UFC? I would love to read other people's opinions 8)

Just 1 more thing vexed Brock has beat some ass, but everyone he has fought has not even been close
to his weight and Randy is getting older, if Lyoto Machida or Anderson Silva was as big as he was they would knock him out quick. Just wait till a realy good kickboxer gets in the ring with him and man handles
him, its gonna happen.

That would be pretty crazy to get another good kick-boxer, the only good one i can think of is mirco cro-cop but his glory days of pride are behind him.

The problem with someone like Lesnar is he is one of a kind, I dont know of anyone who is close to his size or wants to be that big.

Lyoto Machida and Anderson Silva are very talented and would dominate in the heavyweight bracket at a size close to Lesnar but I feel they are better off being one of those classic lightweight warriors.

So Shane Carwin beat Frank Mir! After seeing what Shane did to Frank Mir I wonder how he will be when he faces Lesnar for the belt.

GSP beat. Dan Hardy! No surprise here for me GSP is an incredible fighter. It was funny seeing how Dan Hardy was some punk British guy.

Now that UFC 111 is in the past......I CAN'T WAIT TILL 112!

UFC 112: Invincible

Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia
B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar
Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie

I didn't see any of the fightsCause I was working out at a local rush and broke my fibula playing around in one of the trampoline basketball things.
I don't know who Shane Carwin is but he must be good to beat Mir.
I knew GSP would hold the belt against a upcomer.

UFC 112 - I really like Anderson, he's held the belt for over a year but I really don't know much about Demian Maia.
I really like B.J. even though he is one of the cockiest fighters, again I don't know frankie Edgar so who knows.
Matt hughes is a great fighter and I see his him beating Renzo seeing how MMA has changed so much even though Renzo is
a legendary BJJ fighter, I still hope Renzo submits him since Matt hughes was an asshole to his fighters in the ultimate fighter he coached in.

I can't wait untill UFC 112.

I can see Anderson Silva winning, BJ Penn winning and Matt Hughes winning.

Anderson Silva, I feel he'll be champion for a long time. As for BJ Penn, I feel this will be an easy victory for him and other than that the only other person he needs to beat is George St. Pierre. Untill he beats GSP, it will be easy picking for him at his current weight, he will need to go higher if he wants more competition imo. As for Matt Huges vs. Renzo Gracie, I have a good feeling Matt Huges will win, Renzo is old school and I dont know how he will be conditioned. If Huges beats another Gracie I don't know if they will be able to bring back that family name in UFC.

I don't know. Silva, though a solid ground fighter, has lost on the ground. IF you can get him there, and stay dominant... then you can beat him. However, if you allow him to wear you down, then your fucked. You gotta come in, have a good head, and stay on top. Don't give him ANY outs.

I'm interested to see it, strictly for this fight. I love the underdog.

You're right about the other 2. I doubt there will be any surprises here tomorrow night, however, I hope there are. ;)

Wow, that was one strange UFC event.

Matt Hughes beats Renzo Gracie by those deadly leg kicks, I kinda wanted Renzo to win but he wasn't checking any of those leg kicks and in the end it proved to hurt him. It was still a great fight, lots of respect between both fighters and it was a showcase of mutual respect.

B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar, I was surprised at the speed and quickness of Edgar and in the end it gave him the belt. I was surprised at B.J., I thought this would be an easy victory for him but the young Edgar proved to be a top contender. I'm not gonna lie I wanted BJ to win just because he's starting to become a much more legendary fighter, with excellent technique and never ending endurance. Frankie Edgar really proved himself and now as a belt to walk away with.

As for Anderson Silva, this was just a showcase of his pure talent. He is one crazy monkey jumping around in the cage like that. I couldn't believe he was taunting his opponent like that, he showed 100% confidence in his fight but I would of liked to see him be more of an aggressor since he was demanding Damien to hit him but he wouldn't throw any shots himself. Def. an amazing talented, fun fighter to watch. I can't wait for him vs. GSP. Lets see if he can make weight and still fight at his peak. It would of been interesting to see what his ground game was like but to even try and read this guys movements would have to be a god like talent. He had such erratic movements and strange attacks. Anderson Silva proves to be an amazing fighter and someone special to watch.

B.J. finally lost the belt, it was about time even though I didn't see it coming.
I kind knew Matt hughes would win he's an excellent fighter all around.
Anderson Silva is going to be one of the legends, He has dominated in almost
every fought I have seen him in the UFC. He is the best Muay Thai/Jiujitsu fighter
I see out their.
But I finally watched the Anderson fight and it shocked me, I believe Maia
should have the belt. Anderson was so cocky, and maia had so much heart.
It pissed me off alittle bit.

So.. for anyone who is interested or just wants to read my thoughts/rant on the past and upcoming fights in MMA world.

This past weekend.....HUGE upset in MMA history. The man deemed "the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world," Fedor Emelinanenko lost to a UFC reject Fabricio Werdum by means of an armbar and a triangle choke (Brazilan Jui-Jitsu) in the first round about 70 seconds in.

Fedor, who was previously undefeated since 2000 (10 years of dominance) in Japan's Pride Fighting Championship has defeated many greats in his time but has yet to prove himself against some of the UFC legends (Couture, etc). Fedor has good reasons, he doesnt want to give into Dana Whites B.S. business practices and just be used for money and advertising. You can't blame the guy, but to be the man you have to beat the man.

Is this the end of the line for Fedor? No, he is still an amazing fighter who's previous accomplishments mask the humiliation he faced after losing his first fight. The man was undefeated for 10 years, one loss doesnt put him at the bottom but instead makes his next fight even more exciting.

Is it too late for him to try and reign supreme in the UFC? Maybe, we've seen many fighters come and go, some come to the UFC and dominate others slow down and the few such as Couture become immortal. I would like to see Fedor fight someone who he has yet to beat and someone who will give him a good fight.

Rematch against the guy who beat him? Hopefully, if you analyze the way he lost it wasn't luck or a fluke. The thing about Brazilian Jui-Jitsu; its designed for where the weaker opponent stands a chance at defeating the bigger more stronger opponent with the use of joint locks and submissions. As much as the rest of the world enjoys straight up slugfests MMA is a dynamic sport and in a second you can either have your hand raised or be on the floor knocked out...cold.

Now back to the UFC....this weekend a huge blockbuster event....
UFC 116 Carwin vs. Lesnar

Carwin, who is 12-0; all K.O.s in the first round will be facing up against the infamous Brock Lesnar.

I hope Carwin defeats Lesnar and shuts him up once and for all. The man is good but for someone who has only fought 4 times sure does talk a lot of trash.
