first we need to define the term revolution, the OED(Oxford English Dictionary) states this: A complete overthrow of the established government in any country or state by those who were previously subject to it; a forcible substitution of a new ruler or form of government.

The Americans were first, then the French, and later the Russians in 1905. the french and Russians would get most of their ideas from what took place during the age of enlightenment here in America and across the world.

That being said, the revolutions changed what used to be feudalistic societies with little to no social mobility. I.E. All power was inherent based on your nobility or whether or not god "chose" you to rule rather than your merit. Enlightenment, which is a whole topic on it's own, helped change the ideas of what it mean to be a member of society. "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" became household terms. It was a complete paradigm shift in the way people thought about governing themselves and each other. The constitution would pull heavily from these ideas.

when youre teacher talks about the bourgeois, he's talking about a type of socioeconomic class that was the middle to upper class people of the time. They were in constant conflict with the nobility because nobles power was inherited while the bourgeois followed a typical capitalist mentality which allowed them to move around in socioeconomic status. This was what Americans had fought for previously.

the events that occurred during the revolution and immediately after are very complex and college classes are devoted just to understanding it. It looks like your teacher is taking the social class divided approach to explaining why the revolution took off. Hope this helps some what, let me know what else you need.

Dude. Thanks so much.

Yea we learned about the "enlightenment" a little

Now i'm confused about robspierre/reign of terror...

The reign of terror is when the new government kills their own people beacuase they think the old government is planting spys so that they can show that the new government is bad or something...lol

not so sure :(

Alright, well the reign of terror was a reign against people against the revolution aka the remaining nobility and catholics. There were also the jacobins and girondins. Your man robspierre was a Jacobin. Think of the Jacobins like a political party and Robspierre was the party leader. They were the most influential in running the reign of terror.

He was elected chair to the committee of public safety which would carry out the reign of terror. He believed revolution to be vital and even though most of the fighting had died down the revolution was still going on and any of the perpetrators acting against this revolution has to be squashed.

robespierre would go further and further into the deep end. anyone that remotely acted against the revolution would be murdered. people would begin to lost trust in him and eventually he was thrown out of the convention, the governing body at the time. that was the last of him.

How do you know something is right just because it's from a text book...
well, what makes you think your teacher is handing down right information? i doubt he lived back in the French Revo. and i'm not saying it's right, i'm saying it's prolly better with info than your teacher, but that's what i believe ucz info handed down generation to generation usually gets mixed up, like in a game of telephone, someone is gonna change the info

Wow....This sucks

I was sick yesterday, so i missed school.

When I tried turning in my notebook today (with all the work/notes I did in class), he said I couldn't cause Monday was the day to turn it in and that he won't take late work. Even tho I have a note saying I really was sick from the doctors....

Some advice:
ALWAYS TURN YOUR WORK IN...ON TIME (EVEN IF YOUR SICK OR W/E)!!!!!
